Our Story
About Country Doctor Nutritional Center
Founded in 1998, Country Doctor Nutritional Center is a family-owned practice rooted in natural healing and practical wellness. The clinic was established by Samuel Young, a Board-Certified Naturopath and Master Herbalist, whose life’s work focused on safe, effective, and non-invasive approaches to health.
Today, Country Doctor is operated by his son, Dan Young, a Board-Certified Naturopath and Certified Nutritional Counselor. Samuel also formulated the Herbal Perfect™ extracts and capsules still used in the clinic today.
Our mission is simple: to provide proven protocols, thoughtful guidance, and high-quality products that support the body’s natural ability to heal.
Country Doctor's Philosophy of Wellness
Have you ever noticed that some people consistently feel good, look healthy, have energy, and rarely get sick? While genetics, diet, and exercise matter, there is one common thread they share:
They live by simple wellness principles, and practice them daily.
True health isn’t built overnight, and neither is illness. Poor health is usually the result of small missteps repeated over time. Likewise, lasting wellness comes from small disciplines practiced consistently.
One of Dan’s earliest mentors, Jim Rohn, explained it this way:
Success is a few simple disciplines practiced every day."
Failure is "a few errors in judgment repeated every day."
This idea applies directly to health. Because the body doesn’t break down immediately after poor choices, we assume those choices don’t matter, until years later, when symptoms appear. Consider the phrase “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Eating an apple is easy, but so is not eating one. The danger lies in thinking small choices don’t matter because the consequences aren’t immediate. In reality, just a handful of daily disciplines account for most health outcomes.
Ask Yourself These Three Questions:
-
What do I do daily to support cleansing and balance?
(Diet, movement, rest, supplementation) -
What do I do daily to help eliminate toxins and waste?
-
What do I do daily to nourish and rebuild my body?
When answered honestly, and guided by proven experience, these questions reveal exactly where change is needed.
Good health is not complicated.
It simply requires daily, intentional disciplines.
And that’s where we come in.

Dan Young
ANMCB Board Certified Naturopath
Dan Young was raised in Montana on a working horse ranch, where he learned early that health begins with proper care, nourishment, and balance. His path into natural health was shaped by personal experience. In 1974, Dan and his family watched modern medicine fail to provide lasting solutions for his grandfather’s Parkinson’s disease. This moment prompted his father, Sam, to pursue a less invasive approach and become a Master Herbalist and Naturopathic Doctor. Years later, Dan witnessed another grandfather pass from liver failure in a VA hospital. These experiences solidified a lifelong commitment to natural, effective solutions for chronic illness.
In 1998, Country Doctor Nutritional Center opened its doors in Torrington, Wyoming. By 2001, Dan formally joined the practice, leaving his role as Assistant Director of Elk Creek Academy in northwestern Montana, an 86-acre residential program for at-risk teens. There, Dan developed the communication skills, leadership, and personal accountability approach that now define his clinical style.
Nearly two decades later, Dan oversees more than 4,000 office visits per year, guiding individuals and families through a personalized, principle-driven approach to wellness. Clients travel from across the country to experience what has become known as the Country Doctor Experience.
Jake began his professional career in a large corporate environment, where he worked his way up through leadership by learning systems, managing teams, and supporting organizational growth. This experience provided a strong foundation in structure, communication, and accountability, skills that continue to shape his work today.
In 2016, Jake experienced a profound personal loss when his assistant manager passed away after taking the first dose of a newly released medication for Hepatitis C. The sudden loss of someone he worked closely with was deeply impactful and became a defining moment in his life. It prompted thoughtful reflection on health, care, and the responsibility involved in treatment decisions.
Motivated by a desire to better understand the body and support people more comprehensively, Jake returned to school to earn his Certified Nutritional Consultant credential. During the first two years of his training, he shadowed Dan extensively, gaining hands on experience and developing a strong appreciation for foundational principles, clinical observation, and thoughtful application.
Jake has now been with Country Doctor for over five years, where he focuses on education, mentorship, and program development. His work centers on empowering clients with knowledge, clarity, and confidence so they can take an active role in their health and long term well being.
